Talks

If you are looking for a speaker to come to your club or society to give a talk about Arnos Vale Cemetery, click on the email link below, or telephone 07891675373 and ask for Dave.  Two illustrated talks are offered:

1. "Arnos Vale Cemetery - Saved but not safe"

"This illustrated talk lasts from 40 - 80 minutes (you say how long you want).  I present Arnos Vale cemetery in Bristol, including just a few of its many significant monuments, followed by a virtual walk along one of its many paths and you are told stories about those whose remains are buried in the cemetery and the iconography on their grave stones.  An excellent introduction if you are considering a visit/tour at a later date." 

2. "Arnos Vale Cemetery - Connections in Stone"

"This illustrated talk lasts for 40 - 60 minutes (you say how long you want).  I begin by describing ancient traditions of commemoration in stone, then my talk moves on to connect Arnos Vale Cemetery with the City of Bristol and finally offers a family history view of a number of those now 'resident' in Arnos 45 acres. This talk may be suitable if your group has already visited the cemetery or heard the above talk and would like to learn more."

The talk fee requested is £40 plus travel expenses (i.e. petrol costs if the location is more than 10 miles from Bristol).  A lower fee is negotiable, if requested, for clubs where less than 40 attend.  Please note that 100% of all payments go towards the cost of running, maintaining and restoring Arnos Vale Cemetery.
