Condition and Restoration Progress Notes |

Mainly early 20thC graves, some
later ones are still tended by relatives and although there are many
self seeded trees (mainly ash) access to to many of the graves is
possible at most times of the year. Some selective clearing of
saplings has taken place. November 2006: Woodland management along path from area N including some large trees that are growing in Grave plots - the stumps are treated to stop re-growth:
November 2007: Work has been done in the area of Mary Carpenter's grave to repair the cross which was in danger of falling from its plinth and also to rebuild the walls of the grave in front which was subsiding into the path.
March 2008: For years the path along the top of area Q - leading up from Mary Carpenter's grave has been a problem in poor weather conditions for walkers and tour groups. A group of hard working regular volunteers has now cleared the mud from the path. They also 'rediscovered' and cleared a drain at the top the path which will help to stop it becoming a muddy stream in wet weather!.
