Condition and Restoration Progress Notes |
|
The upper parts of this area
contain some interesting Victorian graves and these are accessible from
the paths but the lower area, extending into area P behind the
Non-conformist chapel is largely overgrown. sections immediately
behind the chapel have been cleared.
October 2006: Commenced woodland management involving thinning and removing some of the self-seeded saplings. This will allow in light which will encourage a more diverse range of plants to grow and allow the original historic trees to survive. November 2006: Woodland management along path up to area Q including some large trees that are growing in Grave plots - the stumps are treated to stop re-growth:
May 2009: The path up to Mary Carpenter's tomb (in area Q) was prepared for restoration last year; still yet to be surfaced it is much easier to walk along.
